Trastuzumab emtansine is a medicine used to treat certain types of breast cancer that make too much of a protein called HER2. Too much HER2 can make cancer cells grow faster. This medicine works by finding these cells and delivering a cancer-killing drug directly into them.
Think of it as a “targeted missile”—it attaches to the cancer cells that have extra HER2, enters them, and then releases a substance that helps destroy them.
