Lenalid 10 mg contains lenalidomide, a medicine that belongs to a class of drugs known as immunomodulatory agents. It is a second-generation analogue of thalidomide, developed to be more effective and better tolerated. Lenalid is used mainly in the treatment of certain cancers of the blood and bone marrow, helping the immune system fight abnormal cells more effectively. It offers hope to patients with conditions that are otherwise difficult to manage, improving both survival and quality of life in many cases.
Mechanism of Action
Lenalidomide works through several pathways. It enhances the body’s immune response by stimulating T cells and natural killer cells, which helps target and destroy cancer cells. It also interferes with the blood supply that tumors need to grow, by blocking the formation of new blood vessels. Additionally, it directly inhibits the growth of malignant cells by affecting proteins within those cells that regulate their survival and reproduction. These combined actions make lenalidomide a powerful agent in controlling cancer progression.
