Dasatib 100 mg contains dasatinib, a targeted cancer therapy used to treat specific types of blood cancers. It is a member of a group of drugs called tyrosine kinase inhibitors. This medicine is primarily used for treating chronic myeloid leukemia and Philadelphia chromosome-positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Dasatib is designed to block the abnormal signals that make cancer cells grow uncontrollably, offering many patients improved control over their condition with an oral treatment option.
Mechanism of Action
Dasatinib works by inhibiting a group of enzymes known as tyrosine kinases. In many patients with chronic myeloid leukemia and certain forms of acute leukemia, a genetic abnormality creates a fusion gene called BCR-ABL. This fusion gene produces an abnormal protein that sends continuous signals for white blood cells to divide and grow. Dasatinib blocks the action of this abnormal protein, slowing down or stopping the growth of leukemia cells. It also affects other kinases involved in cell growth, helping to further suppress the cancer.
