Bevatas 400 mg

Bevatas 400 mg

Bevatas 400 mg contains bevacizumab, a type of monoclonal antibody used to treat various types of cancers. It works by targeting and blocking a protein in the body called vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). VEGF plays a major role in forming new blood vessels, a process known as angiogenesis. Many tumors need new blood vessels to grow and spread. Bevatas is used to help cut off the blood supply that feeds cancer, essentially starving the tumor and slowing its growth. It is usually given by intravenous infusion and is often used in combination with chemotherapy.

Mechanism of Action

Bevacizumab works by specifically binding to the VEGF-A protein, preventing it from interacting with its receptors on the surface of blood vessel cells. By blocking this interaction, Bevatas slows down or stops the formation of new blood vessels, particularly those that would otherwise supply oxygen and nutrients to cancerous tumors. This not only limits tumor growth but also helps improve the effectiveness of other anti-cancer treatments by stabilizing the tumor environment.

  • Non-small cell lung cancer in combination with chemotherapy

  • Kidney cancer (renal cell carcinoma)

  • Glioblastoma, a type of brain tumor

  • Cervical and ovarian cancers, often used with other chemotherapy drugs

  • Breast cancer, particularly HER2-negative subtypes in certain cases
