BDRelin 3.75 mg contains triptorelin acetate, a long-acting form of a gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonist. It is primarily used for hormone-sensitive conditions, especially in prostate cancer, endometriosis, and central precocious puberty. The injection is typically administered once every four weeks under medical supervision.

Triptorelin acts by reducing the body’s production of certain hormones, most notably testosterone in men and estrogen in women, which are essential drivers of growth in hormone-dependent diseases.

Mechanism of Action

Triptorelin initially stimulates the pituitary gland, leading to a temporary surge in luteinising hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) levels. This surge briefly increases testosterone or estrogen levels. However, with continuous administration, the pituitary becomes desensitised, and LH and FSH production is suppressed. This leads to a significant drop in sex hormone levels over time.

The reduction in testosterone or estrogen helps slow the growth of hormone-sensitive cancer cells or endometrial tissue, improving symptoms and disease control.

BDRelin is used for various hormone-dependent conditions, including:

• Advanced or metastatic prostate cancer

• Endometriosis in women to relieve pelvic pain and manage disease progression

• Central precocious puberty in children to delay early onset of puberty

• Assisted reproductive therapies, as part of controlled ovarian stimulation in fertility treatments
