Nitib 140 mg

Nitib 140 mg

Nitib contains Ibrutinib, an oral targeted therapy used in the treatment of certain blood cancers. It belongs to a class of medications known as Bruton’s tyrosine kinase inhibitors. Nitib is designed to block signals that help cancerous B-cells grow and survive. It is commonly used in patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia, mantle cell lymphoma, and other types of lymphomas, especially when the disease has returned or stopped responding to earlier treatments.

Mechanism of Action
Ibrutinib works by blocking the activity of an enzyme called Bruton’s tyrosine kinase. This enzyme plays a key role in the communication signals inside B-cells. In some blood cancers, B-cells become abnormal and grow uncontrollably. By stopping this enzyme, Nitib disrupts these signals, preventing the cancerous cells from surviving and dividing. This targeted action allows the medicine to work effectively while limiting damage to most healthy cells.

Uses
Nitib is prescribed for the treatment of:

  • Chronic lymphocytic leukemia, including patients with high-risk genetic features

  • Small lymphocytic lymphoma, which behaves similarly to chronic lymphocytic leukemia

  • Mantle cell lymphoma in patients who have received at least one previous treatment

  • Waldenström’s macroglobulinemia, a rare type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma

  • Marginal zone lymphoma and chronic graft-versus-host disease in some cases

Adverse Effects
While Nitib is often well tolerated, some patients may experience side effects. Common ones include diarrhoea, fatigue, muscle pain, and bruising. Headaches, rashes, and nausea may also occur.

Some patients may develop more serious effects such as irregular heartbeats, bleeding problems, infections, or high blood pressure. Rarely, there may be risks of second cancers, including skin cancers. Due to its effects on blood cells, regular blood tests are necessary during treatment.

Patients should inform their healthcare provider if they experience symptoms like dizziness, chest discomfort, severe bleeding, shortness of breath, or signs of infection such as fever or chills.
