Nintib 150mg

Nintib 150mg

Nintib contains Nintedanib, an oral medication used primarily in the treatment of certain chronic lung conditions and some types of cancer. It belongs to a group of medicines known as tyrosine kinase inhibitors. Nintib is most commonly prescribed for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, a serious lung condition that causes progressive scarring of the lung tissue. It is also used in some forms of interstitial lung disease and certain types of non-small cell lung cancer. The goal of Nintib therapy is to slow down disease progression and help preserve lung function.

Mechanism of Action
Nintedanib works by blocking the activity of several enzymes called tyrosine kinases. These enzymes play a key role in processes like inflammation, scarring, and the growth of new blood vessels, all of which are involved in the worsening of lung disease and the spread of cancer cells. By targeting these pathways, Nintib helps slow the buildup of scar tissue in the lungs and may also inhibit tumour growth in certain types of cancer. This multi-targeted action allows it to be effective in a variety of conditions where abnormal cell growth or tissue damage is a concern.

Uses
Nintib is prescribed for the treatment of:

  • Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, a long-term condition that leads to irreversible lung scarring

  • Chronic fibrosing interstitial lung diseases with a progressive phenotype

  • Systemic sclerosis-associated interstitial lung disease

  • In combination with other medications for advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer of adenocarcinoma type, after initial chemotherapy

    Adverse Effects

While many patients benefit from Nintib, some side effects are common. These include diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and decreased appetite. Weight loss and liver enzyme changes may also be seen, so routine blood tests are usually recommended.

In some cases, more serious side effects can occur, such as liver problems, bleeding, or clotting issues. Nintib should be used with caution in patients with liver disease or a history of cardiovascular problems. Patients are advised to report symptoms like yellowing of the skin, unusual bruising, shortness of breath, or persistent stomach discomfort to their healthcare provider as soon as possible.
