Mechanism of Action
Capecitabine is converted in the body to 5-fluorouracil (5-FU), a well-known chemotherapy agent. This conversion happens more readily in tumour tissues, allowing for a targeted approach. Once activated, 5-FU interferes with DNA synthesis in rapidly dividing cancer cells by inhibiting the enzyme thymidylate synthase. This ultimately leads to cell death and helps slow down or stop tumour growth.

Uses
Es-Cap is commonly used for the treatment of colorectal cancer, either as part of first-line therapy or following surgery. It is also used to treat breast cancer, especially when the disease has spread or is resistant to other treatments. Adverse Effects
The most frequently reported side effects include hand-foot syndrome, diarrhoea, fatigue, nausea, and abdominal discomfort.
