Exemptia-40-mg

Exemptia-40-mg

Exemptia 40 mg contains Adalimumab, a monoclonal antibody that helps manage autoimmune conditions. It is used to treat chronic inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, psoriasis, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, and juvenile idiopathic arthritis. Exemptia works by targeting specific proteins in the immune system that cause inflammation.

Mechanism of Action:
Adalimumab works by blocking tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), a substance in the body that leads to inflammation:

  • TNF-α is a key player in many autoimmune diseases, where the immune system mistakenly attacks healthy tissues.

  • By binding to TNF-α, Adalimumab prevents it from interacting with its receptors, reducing inflammation and tissue damage.

  • This action helps control the overactive immune response, leading to symptom relief and slowing of disease progression.

    Uses:
Exemptia 40 mg is prescribed for:

    • Rheumatoid arthritis, to reduce joint damage and improve mobility

    • Ankylosing spondylitis, to reduce spinal inflammation and stiffness

    • Psoriatic arthritis and plaque psoriasis, to improve skin and joint symptoms

    • Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, to manage intestinal inflammation and maintain remission

    • Juvenile idiopathic arthritis, for children over 2 years with active disease

      Adverse Effects:
While Exemptia is effective in managing chronic inflammation, it may cause side effects, including:

      • Injection site reactions such as redness, swelling, or pain

      • Increased risk of infections, including tuberculosis and fungal infections, due to immune suppression

      • Headache, rash, or nausea

      • Changes in blood counts, liver enzymes, or cholesterol

      • Rare but serious risks include autoimmune reactions, heart failure worsening, or nervous system issues
