Temotero 250 mg

Temotero 250 mg

Temotero 250 mg contains temozolomide, an oral chemotherapy drug used in the treatment of certain types of brain cancers. It is particularly effective in managing glioblastoma multiforme and anaplastic astrocytoma, which are aggressive brain tumors. Temozolomide belongs to a class of medications called alkylating agents, and it works by interfering with the growth and spread of cancer cells.

Mechanism of Action:
Temozolomide works by damaging the DNA of cancer cells:

  • Once inside the body, it is converted into its active form, which adds methyl groups to the DNA of dividing cells.

  • This disrupts DNA replication and triggers cell death, especially in rapidly dividing tumor cells.

  • It is able to cross the blood-brain barrier, making it particularly useful for treating brain tumors.

    Uses:
    Temotero is primarily used for:

    • Newly diagnosed glioblastoma multiforme, in combination with radiation therapy followed by maintenance monotherapy

    • Recurrent anaplastic astrocytoma, especially when other treatments have failed

    • It may be used off-label for other types of brain or central nervous system tumors under specialist guidance

      Adverse Effects:
Temozolomide can cause a range of side effects, some of which may require close monitoring:

      Common effects include:

      • Nausea and vomiting

      • Fatigue and weakness

      • Loss of appetite

      • Constipation or diarrhea

      • Hair thinning
