Thymogam 250 mg

Thymogam 250 mg

Thymogam 250 mg contains anti-thymocyte globulin (ATG) derived from horses. It is an immunosuppressive medicine mainly used to manage and prevent immune-related complications like rejection in organ transplants and certain blood disorders. It helps in reducing the body’s immune response.

Mechanism of Action:

Thymogam works by targeting and destroying specific immune cells called T-lymphocytes, which are primarily responsible for attacking transplanted organs or misbehaving in autoimmune conditions. By depleting these cells, Thymogam calms the overactive immune system and helps prevent organ rejection or disease progression.

Uses:

Thymogam is used in the treatment of:

  • Prevention and treatment of acute organ transplant rejection, especially in kidney transplants

  • Aplastic anemia, where it helps suppress the faulty immune attack on bone marrow

  • Other autoimmune or hematological conditions as advised by specialists

    Adverse Effects:

    Common side effects include:

    • Fever, chills, and body aches after infusion

    • Rash or itching

    • Low blood pressure or high heart rate

    • Headache
