Nebquest 5 mg

Nebquest 5 mg

Nebquest 5 mg contains Nebivolol, a highly selective beta-1 adrenergic blocker used primarily in the management of high blood pressure and certain heart conditions. It not only controls blood pressure but also improves the heart’s efficiency and function. Nebivolol is known for its vasodilating properties, which distinguish it from traditional beta-blockers.

Mechanism of Action
Nebivolol works by blocking beta-1 receptors in the heart, which leads to a reduction in heart rate and cardiac output, thereby lowering blood pressure. In addition to this, Nebivolol has a vasodilatory effect by stimulating the release of nitric oxide from the blood vessel walls, causing them to relax and widen. This dual action improves blood flow and helps reduce blood pressure without significantly affecting lung function or metabolism.

Uses
Nebquest 5 mg is used for:

  • Hypertension (high blood pressure)

  • Mild to moderate heart failure, as part of combination therapy

  • Angina pectoris (chest pain due to reduced blood supply to the heart) in some cases

  • Helping protect the heart after myocardial infarction (heart attack), though less commonly than other beta-blockers

    Adverse Effects
Nebivolol is generally well tolerated, especially due to its cardioselectivity, but it may cause:

    • Fatigue or tiredness

    • Headache or dizziness, especially at the start of treatment

    • Bradycardia (slow heart rate)

    • Hypotension (low blood pressure)

    • Gastrointestinal disturbances, like nausea or bloating

    • Rarely, sleep disturbances or mood changes

    • Less commonly than traditional beta-blockers, it may cause cold extremities
