Mechanism of Action
Clomiphene works by blocking estrogen receptors in the hypothalamus, a part of the brain that regulates hormones. This tricking of the body into sensing low estrogen levels leads to an increase in the release of gonadotropins — specifically follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH). These hormones stimulate the growth and release of a mature egg from the ovary, increasing the chances of ovulation and pregnancy.

Uses
Clofert 100 mg is used for:

• Inducing ovulation in women with ovulatory disorders or irregular menstrual cycles

• Treatment of infertility in women, especially in conditions like PCOS

• Sometimes used off-label in men for male infertility to improve sperm count and quality

  Adverse Effects
  Clomiphene is usually well tolerated but can cause some side effects, such as:

  • Hot flashes, mood swings, or irritability

  • Abdominal discomfort or bloating

  • Breast tenderness

  • Headache or visual disturbances (rare and reversible)

  • Multiple pregnancy (twins or more) is a known risk due to overstimulation
