HCQS 200 mg

HCQS 200 mg

HCQS is a commonly prescribed medicine that contains hydroxychloroquine sulphate. Originally developed as an antimalarial drug, HCQS is now widely used in the management of autoimmune disorders. It helps control inflammation and immune overactivity in conditions like rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus. Due to its broad effects on the immune system, HCQS is considered a disease-modifying agent in rheumatology.

Mechanism of Action

Hydroxychloroquine in HCQS works by modulating the activity of the immune system. It interferes with communication between immune cells and reduces the release of substances that cause inflammation and tissue damage. In autoimmune diseases, the body mistakenly attacks its own tissues. HCQS helps reduce this harmful activity and provides long-term relief from pain, swelling, and other symptoms.

In malaria, it works by entering the parasite-infected cells and disrupting the digestion of hemoglobin, leading to the death of the parasite.

Uses

HCQS is commonly used for:

  • Treatment of rheumatoid arthritis to reduce joint pain and swelling

  • Management of systemic lupus erythematosus, especially in controlling skin and joint symptoms

  • Control of discoid lupus, a skin-specific form of the disease

  • Prevention and treatment of malaria in areas where the parasite is still sensitive to hydroxychloroquine

    Adverse Effects

HCQS is usually well tolerated when taken under medical supervision. However, some individuals may experience side effects, especially with long-term use. These include:

    • Nausea, vomiting, or mild stomach upset

    • Headache or dizziness

    • Skin rashes or increased sensitivity to sunlight

    • Blurred vision or changes in eyesight, especially with prolonged use

    • Muscle weakness or changes in mood or sleep in rare cases
