It belongs to a group of drugs called alpha-1 adrenergic blockers. This extended-release form allows for a smoother and more sustained control of symptoms.

Mechanism of Action
Prazosin works by blocking alpha-1 receptors found in the muscles of blood vessels and the prostate. By blocking these receptors, it causes the blood vessels to relax and widen, leading to a drop in blood pressure. In the case of an enlarged prostate, it helps by relaxing the muscles of the bladder and prostate, making it easier to pass urine.

Uses
Prazobrook XL 5 mg is used for:

• Managing hypertension or high blood pressure

• Relieving symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), such as difficulty in urination

• Sometimes prescribed for post

  Adverse Effects
  Some people may experience side effects, especially when starting the treatment:

  • Dizziness or light-headedness, particularly when standing up (due to low blood pressure)

  • Headache, drowsiness, or weakness

  • Nasal congestion

  • In some cases, palpitations or swelling in the legs may occur

  • The “first-dose effect” may cause a sudden drop in blood pressure, so it’s usually started at a lower dose under supervision
