ProGlob 5% is a sterile solution of Human Normal Immunoglobulin (HNIG) administered intravenously. It contains IgG antibodies derived from pooled human plasma of healthy donors. These antibodies help the body fight infections and provide passive immunity when the immune system is weak or compromised.

ProGlob is used in various immune deficiency states and autoimmune conditions, offering rapid antibody support when the body cannot produce enough on its own.

Mechanism of Action

ProGlob 5% primarily consists of IgG immunoglobulins, which are essential components of the immune system. Its mechanism includes:

• Passive Immunity: Provides ready-made antibodies that neutralize bacteria, viruses, and other harmful pathogens.

  Therapeutic Uses

  ProGlob 5% is used in the treatment of:

  Primary Immunodeficiency Disorders (PID)

  • When the body doesn’t produce enough antibodies naturally.

  Secondary Immunodeficiencies

  • Due to infections, certain cancers (like leukemia), or immunosuppressive treatments.

  Immune Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP)

  • An autoimmune condition where the immune system destroys platelets.

  Guillain-Barré Syndrome & Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP)

  • Nerve disorders where immunoglobulins help reduce nerve damage.

  Kawasaki Disease (in children)

  • To reduce inflammation of blood vessels and prevent coronary artery complications.

    Adverse Effects

    ProGlob is generally well tolerated when administered properly under medical supervision. However, some side effects can occur:

    Common Side Effects:

    • Headache

    • Nausea or vomiting

    • Back pain or muscle aches

    • Mild allergic reactions (rash, itching)

    Serious (but rare) Effects:

    • Blood clots (thrombosis)

    • Acute kidney injury (especially in patients with preexisting kidney issues)

    • Aseptic meningitis (temporary brain lining inflammation)

    • Hemolysis (breakdown of red blood cells)
